Reading set to sign teenage goalkeeper Aleksandar Gogic

The 17-year-old has been part of the youth set-up at New York Red Bulls and USA's Soccer Development Academy, and will train with the Royals before signing in the summer
Reading are confident of signing young American goalkeeper Aleksandar Gogic in the summer as manager Nigel Adkins looks to build for the future.

The 17-year-old shot-stopper, who was part of the USA’s Soccer Development Academy and is also eligible to play for Poland, is joining the Royals’ Academy to train for the rest of the season before putting pen to paper on a two-year deal.

Gogic was part of the youth squad at New York Red Bulls, and academy manager Eamonn Dolan believes the youngster has a bright future ahead of him.

"We're pleased to have secured Aleksandar,” he told the club’s official website.

“He's one of our 'under-the-radar' deals and a goalkeeper with a lot of raw talent.

"Hopefully, under the tutelage of [goalkeeping coach] Sal Bibbo, Aleksandar will develop into a good player for Reading Football Club."

The Royals are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, eight points from safety, and host Liverpool on Saturday as they aim to keep their slim survival hopes alive.
