Sorensen confirms Stoke interest in 'special' Cornelius

The Denmark international striker, who only turned 20 in March, is currently the top goalscorer in the Superliga and has received high praise from his compatriot

Stoke City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has claimed the club are "definitely" interested in FC Copenhagen striker Andreas Cornelius.

The 20-year-old attacker has enjoyed a breakthrough season in his native Denmark, and currently leads the Superliga scoring charts with 17 goals.

And Sorensen has revealed that his compatriot's impressive performances could earn him a summer move to the Britannia Stadium.

He told "There is definitely interest for Cornelius from Stoke. This is not the first time that I have been consulted about Danish players and I've told them that he is a special talent and that he has done well in Denmark.

"I said that he would be worth a look and they have done that. Now it is up to the club to decide whether he is the right fit for them and to discover if he would be interested."

"As a young player it is important to play every game and I'm sure Cornelius will factor that into his final decision.

"He does have the right build for Premier League football and I sense that he has the right attitude. Only time will tell if he ends up at Stoke."
