Maicon & Richards on verge of first-team return after 90-minute outings for Manchester City Under-21 side

The two full-backs have been sidelined through long-term knee injuries for the past month, leaving Pablo Zabaleta as the club's only senior recognised right-back
Manchester City defensive duo Micah Richards and Maicon both came through unscathed after featuring for the club's Under-21 side as they bid to step up their return to full fitness.

The 31-year-old Brazil international has featured just 11 times for Roberto Mancini's side this season after moving from Italian giants Inter in the summer after being sidelined by a long-term knee complaint.

However, he played the entire 90 minutes during the club's 1-1 draw with Bolton, hitting the bar with a vicious effort in the second half.

Richards also came through the game without any mishaps, but after previously stating that he was hoping to be fit in time for the Manchester derby on Monday night, he instead had to settle for a reserve team fixture.

"I think the Newcastle match [on March 30] will come too soon for me, though I hope to have been training normally by then," Richard told reporters in March.

"Realistically, I’m looking more to the game away to United and then the FA Cup semi-final to be properly involved again."

The England international has made just three league appearances for the club this campaign after undergoing knee surgery back in October.
