Diame: West Ham are looking for a top-ten finish

The Hammer says the east London club are targeting three points against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday in pursuit of their goal of finishing in the top half of the Premier League
Mohamed Diame feels that West Ham are on target to fulfil their aim of finishing in the top half of the Premier League, and are looking to win at Anfield on Sunday to help bring them closer to their goal.

The midfielder has reportedly alerted the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal through his impressive displays so far this season, which has seen him become a crucial player under Sam Allardyce.

Diame was brought off the field when Liverpool travelled to Upton Park in the 76th minute due to a torn hamstring, with West Ham leading 2-1. However, Liverpool scored a quick-fire double to win the game 3-2.

"The home game against Liverpool holds bad memories for me, because it's when I got an injury," he told West Ham TV.

"But now I'm back and I hope I'm going to do well on Sunday. It's not a case of revenge, but we always go on the pitch trying to win and we're going to give it our best and see what happens."

Diame recognises that it will not be easy to travel to the home of the Merseyside club, but believes West Ham will have a strong enough support to help assist them.

"Anfield's a great stadium, and a nice place to play well and show the fans we can win this game against Liverpool. We just have to take the three points, it's important for us, and make sure we stay in the Premier League.

"The support is important, the fans are always behind the team and we feel this support," he added. "I think we did well on Saturday. It was important for us to win the game, get the three points and now it's good for our confidence for the next games.

"The top ten is still our target, we're on the way to doing that and we're going to keep working for that and make sure that at the end of the season we'll be there."
