The winger will miss the relegation-threatened club's final seven games in their battle against the drop, but Harry Redknapp expects him to be fit for the beginning of next season
The midfielder, who arrived at Loftus Road from Manchester City in August 2011, has made 22 appearances for the relegation-threatened club in all competitions this season - but last featured as a second-half substitute in the 3-1 win over Sunderland on March 9.

Shaun has had an operation," Redknapp told the club's official website. "It needed doing; we tried to keep him going.
"He’s played with the pain and not felt 100 per cent. He couldn't train or play to his maximum. The pain was too much and he will hopefully be back at the start of next season now.
"We had wanted to try and keep him going but he couldn’t carry on. When he has played he has done well but I don’t think he felt he was capable of given his maximum. Hopefully he will come back fully fit and ready for next season."
