Wigan boss Roberto Martinez has expressed concern over the fitness of midfielder Callum McManaman ahead of their vital relegation run-in.
The 21-year-old has been the subject of much attention following his controversial tackle on Massadio Haidara in the Latics' 2-1 win over Newcastle, a challenge which went unpunished despite pleas for retrospective action to be taken.
However, Martinez has now revealed that McManaman, who scored in the FA Cup win over Everton, could miss their upcoming encounter with Norwich after sustaining an ankle injury in the impressive victory at Goodison Park.
"Callum's been carrying an injury to his ankle, which caused him to be substituted against both Newcastle and Everton," Martinez told reporters.
"Our major concern now is making sure he's fully fit and able to take to the field against Norwich."
Wigan still sit three points adrift of safety at the bottom of the Premier League, and Martinez is keen to ensure that McManaman is fit to try and pull his side away from danger after he also provided an assist in their most recent triumph.
He added: "He hasn't trained with the rest of the team yet, and the next 48 hours will be crucial."
