The 35-year-old centre-back isn't bothered by his non-existent international career because he doesn't think he'd be where he is now if he had played for Les Bleus
The centre-back has been plying his trade in the Premier League since he was loaned to Newcastle United from French side Paris Saint-Germain in 2001.
However, despite making over 400 Premier League appearances, the Frenchman hasn't yet been given the chance to represent his country.
"People ask me sometimes if I've got regrets regarding me not playing for France and I don't because look where I've got now.
"I'm 35, I'm in a great club, I enjoy my football, I'm fit, I feel good, there is a great atmosphere where I am; why should I regret?," he told Everton's official website.
"Maybe if I'd played for France I wouldn't be here, I'd be at another club, I wouldn't enjoy it, maybe I wouldn't be so down to earth, maybe I'd have a big ego."
35-year-old Distin has also represented Manchester City and Portsmouth before moving to Goodison Park in 2009.
He added: "I’m really happy with what I've got and I'm really happy with what I've done and if I had to do it all again, I'd do it exactly the same way."
