Fulham are more than just Berbatov, insists Ruiz

The Cottagers' top scorer took them into the top 10 with the only goal at Tottenham but his strike partner credits the whole team following a resolute defensive performance
Bryan Ruiz insists that Fulham are not reliant on Dimitar Berbatov after the Bulgarian struck the only goal of the game away at Tottenham.

Against his former club, the former Premier League and Golden Boot winner converted Sascha Riether’s cross following a neat counterattack to net his 11th league strike since his arrival from Manchester United last summer.

6/4 Fulham are 6/4 with BetVictor to finish in the Premier League top 10
The Costa Rica international, however, emphasised that the whole team deserve credit, telling Sky Sports: "People talk a lot about Berbatov, he is a good player, but all the team is doing well, playing well behind him, and that is one thing he cannot do on his own.

"It is great to play with him. But it is about teamwork. We showed that against Tottenham when we defended very well.

"Berbatov’s best quality is not to defend, so all the players did a great job and also used the qualities that he has."

The win saw the West London club climb into the top half of the table following a run of four matches unbeaten and, having earlier endured a run of just one win in 12 matches, Ruiz believes that his side have turned a corner.

"We believe more in ourselves now," he observed. "Sometimes we did not get the points we deserved but we have changed our mentality."
