Southampton fined £20,000 for referee protest in Norwich clash

Saints players remonstrated with referee Mark Clattenburg when he awarded the Canaries a penalty in injury time, only for Artur Boruc to save Grant Holt's spot-kick
Southampton have been fined £20,000 for failing to control their players during Saturday's goalless draw with Norwich, the Football Association has confirmed.

Saints players surrounded referee Mark Clattenburg after he awarded a penalty for a foul by Luke Shaw on Grant Holt in injury time. Artur Boruc saved Holt's subsequent penalty, and the game ended level.

The FA on Friday confirmed Southampton admitted a charge of failing to control their players, and had issued the fine as a result.

Southampton have won just one of the seven matches they have played under new boss Mauricio Pochettino, and sit 16th in the Premier League table.
