thumbnail Hello,

The Dutch centre-back believes his side have finally reaped the deserved rewards of their recent exertions with their crucial away victory over Reading at the weekend.

Ron Vlaar has hailed the Aston Villa faithful in the wake of a vital away win over relegation rivals Reading in their decisive six-pointer on Saturday.

The win put Paul Lambert’s side four points clear of their opponents and three points out of the drop zone.

The Villans will be looking to replicate their heroics this weekend when they entertain a resurgent QPR outfit, who have won their last two games, and Vlaar hopes the home fans will follow the example of their travelling counterparts.

“The fans were awesome at Reading, even after the conceded goal,” Vlaar told the club’s official website.

"They kept on yelling, screaming and shouting in a positive way. It was very good. I am glad they had a good trip to Birmingham on their way back from the game.

"We knew these two games were immense for us. This was a good start and we look forward to QPR now.”

The 28-year-old also said he was delighted his side finally claimed the points they deserved after narrowly losing out to Man City and Arsenal in recent weeks, and hopes his team can use this momentum to keep Villa afloat and repay the fans' for their loyalty.

He said: “The previous two games against very good teams in Man City and Arsenal, we have had good results.

"That is what we have to do - we know we have to work hard and try to win games. We want to make everybody happy, with 34,000-35,000 people at home.

"It would be great to get the win. You want to make everybody happy."
