thumbnail Hello,

Saints face disciplinary action for the way they acted to referee Mark Clattenburg's decision to award the Canaries a late penalty in their goalless draw at Carrow Road

Southampton have been charged for failing to control their players in the aftermath of conceding a late penalty to Norwich on Saturday.

Saints players were unhappy after referee Mark Clattenburg adjudged that Luke Shaw’s challenge in stoppage time on Grant Holt was worthy of a penalty.

Holt failed to convert the spot kick with Artur Boruc pulling off a dramatic save to earn his side a point a goalless draw.

A statement on the FA website read: "The FA has today charged Southampton with failing to control their players following the awarding of a penalty to Norwich during the match at Carrow Road on Saturday 9 March."

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have until 4pm on Friday to respond to the charge.

Southampton currently sit outside the relegation zone in 16th spot, but have won just once since Pochettino took over from Nigel Adkins on January 18.
