The West Brom manager hopes that the club's fans will move past the striker's well-publicised recent issues and offer him their support at home against Swansea City

West Brom manager Steve Clarke has called for fans to move past Peter Odemwingie's recent issues and offer him their encouragement as they take on Swansea City on Saturday.

The beleaguered striker was met with jeers against Sunderland on February 23 as he made his first appearance at the Hawthorns since criticising the club on Twitter and attempting to force through a move to QPR in the January transfer window.

However, he was well received by the Baggies' traveling support at Chelsea on Saturday and Clarke would like to see the home crowd follow suit.

"Am I keen to see home fans put things in the past? I would like to think so and, if he plays and scores goals, they will give him a good reception," the West Brom boss told the press.

"Everyone knows the Peter incident happened but it's passed for us and we have all moved on from it, and I look forward to his contribution for the rest of the season.

"Peter and I have a good relationship. Coach, player ... excellent relationship."
