thumbnail Hello,

The Ivorian has hailed the impact of the Tyneside club's January arrivals and has expressed his belief that Alan Pardew's side can continue to climb the table

Newcastle midfielder Cheikh Tiote has suggested that "anything is possible" following his side's recovery from their poor start to the season.

The Magpies sit just six points clear of the Premier League relegation zone but have picked up three of their eight league wins this season in the last four games.

This upturn in form has been largely down to the success of the club's January arrivals, a fact which the Ivorian readily acknowledges.

“That’s football – sometimes things don’t go so well,” Tiote told Hartlepool Mail. “The situation was bad – you don’t want to see the club in a bad moment.

“We didn’t play well in the first six months, and after that, the club signed some new players, which was good. We have some fresh players in the team.

“We have 11 games left, and we want to win as many as possible. Anything is possible.”

Alan Pardew's side face an away clash with Capital One Cup winners Swansea City at the weekend, and Tiote is anticipating a tough game.

“Both teams have a lot of confidence,” he added. “Swansea won the cup, and are confident at the moment. We won our last game, and are in good form. I think it’s going to be a tough game for both teams.”
