The 21-year-old has scored ten goals this season and is hoping to net more to secure his side's Premier League status before beginning talks over a possible new contract

Aston Villa attacker Andreas Weimann is confident his side have enough quality to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

The Austria international has been a rare success story at Villa Park during a campaign surrounded by doom and gloom, with the 21-year-old's ten goals playing a large part in keeping the club's survival hopes alive.

And, after scoring during a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday, Weimann expressed his belief that there is enough time to turn Villa's fortunes around.

"We will fight for each other, for the fans and for the club and do everything we can to stay up," he told reporters.

"We have 11 games to go and we will do everything to get out of this.

"We're confident of turning it around. We've got 11 games to get out of it. We're confident that by the end of the season we won't be in there."

The striker's contract runs out at the end of next season, but boss Paul Lambert has revealed that an extension is currently being discussed.

"Andy has played really well and his goalscoring has been excellent. We’re still talking," the Villa boss commented.
