thumbnail Hello,

The 21-year-old has shone on loan at Millwall this year, and has now turned his attention to establishing himself in the top flight when he returns to White Hart Lane

Tottenham full-back Adam Smith, currently on loan at Championship side Millwall, is targeting a first-team place in the Premier League at White Hart Lane next season.

The 21-year-old, an academy product, is currently behind Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton in the Tottenham pecking order, and has made just one appearance for Spurs in his six years at the club.

But the England Under-21 international hopes his experiences at The Den, where he has had impressed this season, can stand him in good stead to make the step up to the Premier League.

"I was at MK Dons last year doing well and then joined Leeds, but on the day I got there Simon Grayson  was sacked, so that changed everything for me," Smith told Sky Sports.

"It wasn't the ideal situation for me, but I've managed to earn another shot at the Championship this year and I feel that I'm doing well at this level.

"The next step for me is obviously the Premier League, but the only way I'll get to that stage is continuing to work hard and show my ability whilst here at Millwall."

Smith has drawn plaudits in his 23 appearances for the Lions in all competitions, scoring once, and credited the locality of the club for his good form.

"The chance to live at home and not move around the country was a huge bonus when opting to join Millwall because it can take a while to settle when you have to uproot to a different place and new surroundings," Smith continued.

"Millwall is a great club and I have enjoyed my time immensely and long may it continue."
