The 21-year-old, who recently returned from the second anterior cruciate ligament injury he has suffered in his short career, is set to stay with the Cottagers until the end of the season.

And he is eager to earn playing time at the west London club before returning to the Emirates Stadium and claiming a first-team berth.

"I have had loads of injuries but I mean to get over it just like Jack has," Frimpong told reporters.

"The boss at Arsenal — Mr Wenger — told me to come here and get some games under my belt because there is no point sitting on the bench at Arsenal.

"Then I’ll go back next season and see what happens."
