The Swansea boss has raised doubts over the centre-back's fitness in the run up to the team's first-ever final in the Capital One Cup after twisting his ankle against QPR

Swansea boss Michael Laudrup has doubts over defender Chico Flores' fitness ahead of his side’s Capital One Cup final against Bradford City.

The Spaniard twisted his ankle during the Welsh club’s emphatic 4-1 victory over bottom-of-the-table QPR at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

The defender is expected to fly with the squad for their warm-weather training camp in Dubai next week after a fracture was ruled out, but Laudrup is still unsure whether the 25-year-old will recover in time for Swansea’s trip to Liverpool as well as their date at Wembley.

"We have to wait for the scan but if it is ligaments he would definitely be out of the final.” Laudrup told Sky Sports.

"We have to wait to see if it is only a twisted ankle or it could be more damage with the ligaments.

"If it is ligament damage we need to see how bad it is and make a decision from there.

"We will see first if there is anything that needs surgery, the more things we can exclude right now the better."

Chico has cemented his place in Swansea’s defensive setup since his move to south Wales from Genoa in July 2012, having already racked up 18 first-team appearances for the side.
