The 26-year-old former Bordeaux striker says he can replicate the form shown by the now-Chelsea striker after completing his £1.3 million move to the Premier League
The 26-year-old Frenchman was signed by the Magpies on Wednesday as they look to replace their top scorer Ba who joined Chelsea earlier in the month.
Gouffran believes he will have no trouble filling the boots of the Senegel international though, saying he does not have anything to prove after his time with Bordeaux.

“Can I score as many as Demba Ba? Yes," Gouffran told reporters.
“I’m a centre-forward. I have proven that I can score goals in France.
“It will be different in the Premier League and it is up to me to make sure I go on the pitch and score, and do everything I can to succeed in the Premier League and in different country. Being compared to Ba does not put more pressure on me."
“Yes, I’m an attacker, and yes I want to score goals. But we both have different styles of play. What are my big assets? Speed. I’m fast and I score goals.”
Gouffran does however admit that he will need time to adjust to the English game, as he looks to fire Newcastle clear of the relegation zone.
He added: “First of all, I want to settle in well, and secondly to show I am a good enough player to handle the Premier league; to score as many goals as I can.”
