Everton defender Jagielka hails best form of his career

The 30-year-old has established himself as regular for the Toffees and England this season, and believes David Moyes' current squad is his strongest ever at Goodison Park
Phil Jagielka believes his recent performances are some of the best of his career as he looks to help Everton push for a Champions League place.

The 30-year-old's form at Goodison Park this season has seen him become a regular in Roy Hodgson's England team, and he recently penned a new deal at the club until 2017.

Jagielka believes that the side's overall performances have been excellent, and says David Moyes has assembled his strongest squad yet since joining Everton.

"I think [my performances] would be up there, Just before I got injured [in 2009], I was flying quite high as well, though obviously I was a little bit younger then," he told the club's official website.

"That was nice, but I think it's easy to play in a team doing well when the confidence is up there. When we're not doing well, especially as a defender, it is a lot harder to perform at a good level.

"But the team is performing well at the moment, and that's the be all and end all. If you can chip in and play well as well, it's a bonus, and most of the squad have been doing that this season.

"We've got a lot of options and we've got a group of players that have been here a while now. We're so close as a unit and we've got a lot of players with attacking flair that can score goals and create chances.

"We've got a good blend of young and old, so the squad is definitely up there with the best I've been in. We've had a good start to the season and hopefully we can have a good rest of the campaign and progress from there.

“I've signed for a few years and I hope we will go further up the league and be in this situation year in and year out."
