Chelsea captain Terry: Only a matter of time before return from injury

The veteran centre-back has not featured for the Blues since November 11 but is waiting for the "swelling and bruising to calm down" before putting his knee knock behind him
Chelsea captain John Terry says that it is "a matter of time" until he makes his comeback from a knee injury.

The centre-back missed out on the Blues' unsuccessful Club World Cup challenge in Japan and has not featured since a 1-1 draw with Liverpool on November 11.

"I'm doing well and just waiting for the swelling and bruising to calm down and then I can step things up," Terry wrote in the club's matchday programme ahead of Sunday's game against Aston Villa.

"I'm outside doing ball work already and I can't wait to get back involved - it's just a matter of time to let things settle."

Terry, 32, has made 558 appearances in all competitions for the Blues since his debut in the 1998-99 season.
