Window Shopping: Frustrated Villa set to stay as Barcelona expect quiet January

Goal.com's Greg Stobart and Peter Staunton are joined by Matt Holland as we look at the potential ins and outs at Camp Nou in the January transfer window

Barcelona are flying high at the top of La Liga but all is not well with one of the most influential players of the Pep Guardiola era.

David Villa has found himself marginalised by the form and prominence of Lionel Messi since returning to the first-team from injury, and while may be looking for a fresh challenge away from Catalunya, the Spain international appears willing to see out the rest of the season at Camp Nou.

Meanwhile, Barcelona may already be near enough shoe-ins for the Liga title, but Tito Vilanova and Co. have yet to find a legitimate and effective way to play (and win) without Messi.

The Argentine striker looked set to spend some time on the sidelines after he was stretchered off in the Catalans' recent game against Benfica, only for the 25-year-old to declare himself fit for the 2-1 win at Real Betis, in which he scored his 85th and 86th goals of the season before adding another two just days later against Cordoba and his 89th in Sunday's win over Atletico Madrid.
