Hughton delighted with Norwich's defensive solidity

The Canaries boss believes his side's recent good run of defensive form has been brought on by fine performances from the entire team, ahead of their clash with Everton
Norwich manager Chris Hughton has hailed his side's new-found defensive solidity in the Premier League.

The Canaries opened the season with a 5-0 defeat at Fulham, and also conceded five to Liverpool, before being thrashed 4-1 by Chelsea a week later.

However, the Norfolk side have vastly improved at the back recently, keeping four clean sheets in their last six Premier League games.

John Rudd turned in a man-of-the-match performance as the Canaries beat Manchester United 1-0 last week, and will face his former club Everton on Saturday, with Hughton eyeing more staunch defending from his entire team.

"He [Ruddy] will enjoy going back and will look for the opportunity to catch up with old friends. It is only a good day, though, if you get something from it," Hughton told Sky Sports News.

"I have been very pleased with the team defensively. We will be severely tested on Saturday, but we are buoyed by the good spells we have had this season.

"Clean sheets are always pleasing for a goalkeeper and a back four but it is a real team effort. The back four have a group of players in front of them who are giving them good resistance.

"But Everton have started the season really well. They are playing a very good style of football. They are a good all-round team."
