Pardew keen to give Newcastle fans some 'entertainment'

After the Magpies' mixed start to the new Premier League campaign, the 51-year-old hopes to see his side show their old fluency against Michael Laudrup's men on Saturday
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has called for his side to put on a show when they go in search of three points against Swansea City on Saturday.

The Magpies have so far struggled to match the heights reached in last season's Champions League-chasing campaign and suffered defeat to newly promoted West Ham on Sunday.

But the Englishman hopes to see his side change that when the Swans visit St James' Park.

"Our home form hasn't been great," he told reporters.

"We've nicked a couple of wins, we've had injuries and again this weekend we will be scratching around a bit in terms of our senior players. We have to have extra resolve and get a victory.

"It's a tough test for us because we are going to have a stadium that will expect us to win, and Swansea keep the ball really well.

"Our fans are going to have to be patient and understand it's a difficult game and one where they will come to frustrate us.

"But it's important that we give our fans some entertainment that will lift them."

The fixtures are coming thick and fast for Pardew's side due to their participation in the Europa League and the former Charlton boss knows a run of form is vital.

"We've got four games in nine days from Saturday and that is a tough schedule," he added

"We are going to have to make sure we come through this period stronger and get some solid results - it's a big week this week."
