Southampton youngster Matt Young could be set to join League Two side Bradford City on loan.

Goal.com has learned that the Bantams, currently fourth in the table, are in talks with the Saints over the possibility of signing the 18-year-old right-back on a temporary basis.

Boss Phil Parkinson is on the lookout for defensive reinforcements, with Andrew Davies ruled out for up to four months with a knee injury less than a fortnight ago and Luke Oliver set to miss the rest of the season with an Achilles problem.

Young has made five appearances for the Southampton reserve side in this season's Under-21s Premier League, but is yet to take his senior bow.

If the deal goes through, Young would become the third Saints youngster to leave on loan in the last two weeks, after striker Alberto Seidi and defender Dan Seaborne departed for Aldershot and Charlton, respectively, on one-month deals.
