Rodallega: Berbatov and I can create great partnership

The striker who signed from Wigan in the summer is enjoying playing with the former Man Utd forward and believes he is having a massive impact at the club both on and off the pitch
Fulham striker Hugo Rodallega has hailed fellow forward Dimitar Berbatov, insisting he is learning a lot from his new team-mate and that the two can forge a strong partnership at the club.

The Bulgarian was instrumental in the club's recent 3-3 draw with Arsenal, scoring two and assisting the other to help Martin Jol's men recover from two goals down and earn a point at the Emirates. Rodallega believes signing the former Manchester United man is a massive coup for the club, and says he is learning a lot from him.

"Berba is more than important for us, both on and off the pitch," Rodallega told reporters.

"He is a relaxed guy, very intelligent, but also a shy person. When he does speak, it is common sense. I am learning a lot from him and I think we can be very successful during our time here.

"The reason we were signed was to score goals but we also have to work hard for the team, whether it is me, Berba, Mladen Petric or someone else who scores the goals."

Rodallega also spoke of his decision to join Fulham and remain in the Premier League despite receiving offers from abroad, pointing towards the club's progress and potential as key factors in his reasoning to join Martin Jol's side.

"There were other clubs interested in me, not just in England, but I preferred to stay in the Premier League and of the teams there were, Fulham seemed like a serious club," the 27-year-old added.

"Wigan's main goal is to stay up and I felt the team had bigger goals here as soon as I arrived. One of my main goals was to fight for bigger things, maybe the Europa League and, hopefully, one day the Champions League.

"We are well positioned in the league and the players want to qualify for Europe."
