Tottenham 'full of confidence' ahead of Manchester City trip, says Bale

After helping Spurs to a morale-boosting 3-1 win over Maribor on Thursday evening, the Welshman says his side are ready to make up for last season's loss at the Etihad Stadium
Tottenham winger Gareth Bale says his side are "full of confidence" as they prepare to take on Manchester City on Sunday.

Spurs overcame a two-goal deficit in last season's fixture at the Etihad Stadium only to lose out on a share of the points thanks to Mario Balotelli's last-gasp penalty.

But the Wales international says his team are hoping to fare better this time round after cruising to a 3-1 win over Maribor as preparation.

10/1 Gareth Bale is 10/1 to score the first goal when Spurs face Manchester City with Paddy Power

"We needed the right reaction after the weekend and we certainly did that," he told reporters.

"The lads are delighted and we’ve got to maintain that form now going into the Premier League.

"This is another big game. We went there last season, gave them a good run for their money and probably should have won, but it wasn’t to be.

"We’ll go back up there full of confidence again after playing well against Maribor.

"We know it will be very difficult on Sunday and we’ll give it our all. We’ve played well away, we'll prepare right and hopefully we'll get the right result."
