'Very difficult' for Everton to finish in top four, says Jol

The Cottagers boss believes the abundunce of "top teams" in England make Champions League qualification a tough task, even Everton who currently find themselves in fourth spot

Fulham manager Martin Jol believes it will be a massive challenge for Everton to break into the top four and does not expect the Merseyside club to remain in their current position come the end of the season.

The Toffees, notoriously slow starters, have lost just once so far this campaign but have drawn their last four games including Saturday’s 2-2 stalemate with the Cottagers.

The Fulham boss admitted that his team were lucky to come away with a point, after a 90th-minute Steve Sidwell goal meant the points were shared, but the 56-year-old Dutch coach does not expect Everton’s to maintain their lofty start.

Jol told reporters: "It's very brave and characteristic of him [Moyes] to say that but there are so many top teams in England so it will very difficult for Everton to be in the top four.

"It’s good to listen to a top manager like him. I feel that Everton is a top team. They are very difficult to play against.

"Not only their first ball, because they play a long ball, but after that they play possession, they overlap and play one-twos.

"I think they try to play the ball in your half, so they certainly play with a purpose and it is a style. That is what I like.

"I don’t want to talk about other teams but I feel that even Stoke have a style. It’s different from Everton, believe me."
