Lindegaard ruled out of Chelsea clash with thumb injury

The Danish keeper will definitely miss the trip to Stamford Bridge while Shinji Kagawa is also a doubt after being substituted at half-time against Braga due to a knee injury
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed Anders Lindegaard will be missing from action for a week with a thumb injury, while also confirming Shinji Kagawa's knee injury will be assessed on Wednesday.

The Danish keeper was not included in the the squad for the Red Devils' Champions League tie against Braga and Ferguson confirmed after the match that he sustained the injury in training, and as a result will miss the top of the table clash with Chelsea this Sunday.

He told reporters "Anders hurt his thumb on Sunday morning in training."

"He should be okay in a week's time but he won't be available for the weekend."

The Old Trafford manager also revealed that Shinji Kagawa is a doubt for the trip to Stamford Bridge. The Japan international was replaced at half-time by Nani after suffering an injury to his knee in the first period.

"Shinji twisted his knee," Ferguson revealed.

"We had to take him off. He struggled on for 20 minutes after he got the injury. We'll assess it in the morning as it's too early to say what the damage is."
