The 32-year-old, who has not played for the Blues this season, was strongly linked with the Sao Paulo club over the summer but, although manager Muricy Ramalho admits his admiration for the player, vice-president Odilio Rodriuguez is adamant that they are no longer looking to sign the Frenchman.

"Besides, he has a lot of experience and has played for big clubs in Europe".
However, in spite of Ramalho's kind words, the Santos board moved swiftly to declare that they will not be making a move for the Frenchman.
"We did have talks with Malouda a few months ago, but he is not in our plans anymore," stated Rodriguez.
"We are not negotiating with Malouda, we have other priorities. We understand he is a great player but we didn't make any new offer."
