The Welshman has been linked with Barcelona and Real Madrid in the past and with former team-mate Luka Modric urging him to move to Spain, is it time he left Spurs?
Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric became the latest observer to insist former Tottenham team-mate Gareth Bale has the potential to play at the highest level on Tuesday evening.
Following Croatia's 2-0 win over Wales, the playmaker claimed the former Southampton man is good enough to join him at the Bernabeu, a move which has been rumoured in the past.
Bale's former manager Harry Redknapp also recently described the 23-year-old as a "genuine world class" player, suggesting Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are only just ahead of him.
The Welshman has been absent from Europe's premier club tournament, the Champions League, since a one-season jaunt with Tottenham during the 2010-11 campaign.
Spurs face stiff competition from Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea for a top-four finish this season, making sealing a return to the big time a huge ask for the north London club.
So, does Gareth Bale need to leave Tottenham to fulfil his potential? Or should he stay put at White Hart Lane to make sure he is on the team-sheet each week? Have your say by voting in our poll and leaving your comments below. You can also get in touch via Facebook and Twitter.
