Wigan defender Boyce encouraged by Di Santo and Kone partnership

The Barbadian is excited with the two players' understanding and believes their goals will be vital for the team as they look to avoid another relegation battle
Wigan Athletic defender Emmerson Boyce is encouraged by the partnership being developed by Franco Di Santo and Arouna Kone, and believes their strike force is now more threatening.

The two forwards have three goals each in their opening seven games, and the English-born full-back believes their goals will be vital to the club's success this season.

The Barbados international is full of praise for their attackers, and hopes the rest of the side can contribute similar performances during the current campaign.

"Goalscorers are worth their weight in gold, and they have really proved their worth this season," Boyce told the Wigan Observer.

"That's two games now out of seven where they have both scored, and that obviously shows what a good understanding they have going.

"They both have great potential and they both know where the goal is. They're taking their chances at the moment and that can only bode well for the team.

"It's always a good sign when both of your strikers score. That's what the manager wanted and they've done that for him.

"It's up to the rest of us now to chip in and help out where we can, and it can still be a good season for us."
