thumbnail Hello,

The Spaniard has warned against complacency and mistakes which have cost his side points already this campaign and is hopeful of a consistent finish to the league

Wigan midfielder Jordi Gomez has expressed his delight at the club's start to the campaign, and says it will be a great season for them if they cut out mistakes and keep improving.

The Latics lie four points off the top half of the table in 15th position, but the Spaniard is upset that mistakes have cost them a few places in the league.

Gomez told the club's official website: "We should have more points than what we have got but, we will work hard to cut out any mistakes and to score more goals.

"In general I think the team has done quite well and I think it is going to be a great season for us.

"I like the ambition of the club that we always look to improve each year and that is why I came here in the first place.

"From the chairman down to the players there is a fantastic sense of confidence around the club and everyone is working hard to keep the club improving."

Wigan currently have 12 players on international duty over eight countries. But for those who are staying behind, preparations are already in place for their next fixture.

CUTTING OUT THE MISTAKES
13/5 Wigan are 13/5 with Paddy Power to win away at Swansea
He continued: "The rest of us who haven’t gone to international games stay here and train hard to be ready for the next game.

"It is good to have a rest for a few days but then it is all about doing the job we need to do to the best of our ability and be as ready as we can be for Swansea City."

Gomez likes to watch his team-mates in action over the international break and has chosen Scotland versus Wales as a likely match.

He added: "I like to watch when my team mates are in games that are on television and Scotland are on tomorrow against Wales so I'll probably watch that."
