Some of the biggest names in world football have failed to find a place in their country's latest squads and Goal.com is asking who most deserved to be given a chance
With international football back and teams across the globe preparing for World Cup qualifiers, several big names have found themselves overlooked by their country this week.
Despite enjoying a sparkling start to the new Premier League campaign, there was still no place for Juan Mata in Vicente Del Bosque's star-studded Spain squad.
The former Real Madrid boss also overlooked wantaway Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente, who has admittedly suffered from a dip in form at the start of this season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal midfielder Mikel Arteta is yet another Spaniard whose fine performances have not resulted in a call-up from the world and European champions.
Away from Spain, Rio Ferdinand's international career appears to have come to an end under Roy Hodgson, despite the recent retirement of centre-back John Terry.
And Carlos Tevez failed to secure a place in Alejandro Sabella's Argentina squad for the upcoming clash with Ecuador.
So, who do you think most deserved a call-up out of these unlucky few? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll, leaving a comment below or getting in touch through Facebook or Twitter.
