Following the Villans' 4-1 defeat to Southampton on Saturday, the Scot has come to the defence of the fledgling strike partnershipAston Villa manager Paul Lambert is confident that striker Darren Bent and new signing Christian Benteke will form a good partnership at the club, but admits it will take the pair time to gel after the 4-1 defeat to Southampton.
Benteke arrived at the club this summer, and scored his first goal for the club in the 2-0 win over Swansea at Villa Park, while Bent grabbed his first of the season against the Saints after making a comeback from injury this summer.
Lambert told The Sun: "I am sure we'll be fine. Christian was a handful and Darren is a goalscorer, but it will take time for them to gel."

It was Bent's first goal for the club since the February ankle injury that sidelined him for the remainder of last season, and he showed characteristic predatory instincts to nip in and score from close range to put Villa in front.
"That's Darren to a tee," Lambert added. "That's how he has made a living out of the game with the way he can score."
Villa are currently in 14th position in the Premier League having won one and drawn one of their five games.
