TEAM NEWS: Dembele makes first start for Tottenham in Reading clash

Andre Villas-Boas has handed the former Fulham man a place in the starting XI following his goalscoring debut against Norwich City at White Hart Lane a fortnight ago
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has handed Belgium international midfielder Mousa Dembele a first start for the club for their clash with Reading at the Madejski Stadium this afternoon.

The former Fulham man scored against Norwich City in Spurs' last game and replaces Jake Livermore alongside Sandro in the centre of the park, with the young midfielder dropping out of the squad.

Jermain Defoe continues as a lone striker, whilst Kyle Naughton comes into the side to replace Benoit Assou-Ekotto. Tom Huddlestone is on the bench after his red card in the Norwich game was overturned.

Brad Friedel remains in goal despite the signing of France international Hugo Lloris, and the American will make his 308th consecutive Premier League appearance.

Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici is injured and replaced by Alex McCarthy, who makes his Premier League debut.

Despite rumours of a return from injury for pacy wideman Jimmy Kebe, the Mali international has been unable to recover from a hamstring problem.
