Official: Tottenham midfielder David Bentley joins FC Rostov on loan

The former England international winger was included in Spurs' 25-man Premier League squad list but has been allowed to link up with the Russian side for four months
Tottenham midfielder David Bentley has made a surprise loan move to Russian side FC Rostov until January.

The winger had been included in Andre Villas-Boas' 25-man Premier League squad list for the first half of the season but has nevertheless been permitted to leave the club, with first-team football at White Hart Lane apparently unlikely.

Since joining Spurs for £15 million in July 2008, the 28-year-old has only made 62 competitive appearances for his side over four years.

The seven-times-capped England international, last featuring for his country in 2008, had been a trainee at Tottenham's north London rivals, Arsenal, before joining Blackburn in between.

Bentley had previously been loaned out to Birmingham City and West Ham United while on the books at White Hart Lane but without holding down a first-team place at either club.
