Fulham have not completed the signing of FC Twente striker Chris David - despite reports to the contrary from the Dutch club, on a busy day for the Premier League side.

The highly rated 19-year-old was thought to have undergone a medical with the Cottagers after Ajax had expressed an interest in the Holland youth international.

But the club's communications director Sarah Brookes confirmed after the closing of the transfer window that they had not reached an agreement with the striker.

The Premier League side have been busy on deadline transfer day after concluding a deal of an undisclosed fee for Sunderland midfielder Kieran Richardson, with striker Dimitar Berbatov also sealing a move from Manchester United, and Wolfsburg winger Ashkan Dejagah.

Meanwhile, the club have also lost last season's top goalscorer Clint Dempsey to Tottenham, while youngster Corey Gamerio has joined PSV Eindhoven on a four month loan deal.

They also saw moves for Lyon left-back Michel Bastos and Ghanaian midfielder Derek Boateng fall through on the final day.
