The Spurs centre-back Tweeted that although Thursday's operation was a success, he is now set to miss a large portion of the season as he begins his recovery
Kaboul was initially ruled out of Euro 2012 after aggravating an existing knee injury whilst playing for Spurs in the final game of last season.
The centre-back appeared in pre-season before playing the full 90 minutes against Newcastle United on the opening day of the new campaign but went under the knife on Thursday in a bid to cure the knee problem.

"Sorry I forgot to mention how long...Should be 4 months."
Fellow centre-back Michael Dawson looked on course for a move away from White Hart Lane with a £10 million move to QPR on the cards but Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas could now be forced into a rethink.
Kaboul now looks certain to miss high-profile Premier League matches against the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool.
