The Reds' captain believes his midfield partner has settled in well at his new club following his £15 million move from Swansea and has tipped him to become a key player at AnfieldLiverpool’s Steven Gerrard has been impressed at how quickly Joe Allen has settled into life at the club and is tipping him to become a hit at Anfield.
Brendan Rodgers splashed out £15 million to bring his former Swansea City player to the club and the Wales international has already set about justifying the fee with a man-of-the-match display against Premier League champions Manchester City.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Gerrard said: "When you make big-money signings people expect it to take time to settle in. You naturally give them that bit of time but it seems like Joe has cruised in and settled in really, really well.
"He is only small but he passes the ball well, he's safe in possession, he works really hard for the team.
"If he can keep performing to the level he is then I think we've found ourselves a player."
Despite Liverpool throwing away a lead on two occasions to draw 2-2 against Manchester City at the weekend, Gerrard is happy with the way his team-mates bounced back.
"There are plenty of positives to take from that game," he added. "When you play so well and you only get a draw, it does feel like a defeat, but no one is down after that - it was a great reaction after the West Brom result.
"From Pepe [Reina] up to Luis [Suarez], everyone performed well. We're really pleased. If we can use that as a benchmark for our performances moving forward I think we can do really well."
