Clarke proving himself at West Brom - Lukaku

The on-loan Chelsea striker believes that the new man in charge at the Hawthorns will succeed thanks to his work under Jose Mourinho's stewardship during his reign at the Blues
West Brom's on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku believes that Steve Clarke will finally prove his worth as a manager with the Baggies.

Clarke has made a hugely successful career as an assistant, working under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea and Kenny Dalglish at Liverpool.

And after masterminding West Brom's opening day 3-0 win over the Reds, Lukaku believes that the Scot, in his first full managerial role will find success at the Hawthorns.

He told reporters: “We saw what he did for many years at Chelsea, where he was a great assistant coach working with Jose Mourinho.

“Now he’s showing everybody he can do it in the top flight as a manager. The gaffer knows the game. And if you know the game, you can manage really well."

The Belgian forward hit the ground running by notching the third in the stunning opening-day success but insists that Albion must not get ahead of themselves just yet.

Lukaku added: “If we can play like we did against Liverpool, we’ll have a great season. But we have to be humble and realistic because sometimes we’ll have bad games.

“Getting a win against Liverpool was the most important thing and the goal I scored was just a part of it.”
