'Renewed' Tevez relishing prospect of new season with Manchester City

Following his infamous refusal to appear as a substitute and subsquent six-month exile, the Argentine has claimed to have a new outlook on football with his confidence returning

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez says he feels "renewed" and ready ahead of the new Premier League season.

The Argentina international was exiled for much of last season after infamously refusing to come on to the field as a substitute in a Champions League game last September, but returned in April to help kick-start his side's flagging title charge.

City, of course, went on to claim their first ever Premier League crown, and Tevez, who has completed a full pre-season with the club for the first time since joining, believes he is ready to impress once more under Roberto Mancini.

"I'm returning feeling renewed," Tevez is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.

"I'm really up for having a great season. I'm better now and only thinking about playing football."

TEVEZ ON TARGET?

City have already claimed their first piece of silverware of the season after coming from behind to beat Chelsea 3-1 in the Community Shield, with Tevez giving his side the lead just before the hour mark with a thunderous effort from 25 yards.

And the striker has pointed to that goal as evidence of his new attitude and confidence.

"I feel useful and valued and that is fundamental for me," he admitted. "It's been a long time since I've scored a goal like that [against Chelsea], like the ones I used to score when I was at Boca, and this speaks of the confidence I have."
