Arsenal have confirmed that terms have been agreed with Manchester United for the sale of star striker Robin van Persie.
The wantaway forward has long looked destined for the exit door at the Emirates Stadium, and will now travel to Manchester on Thursday to finalise personal terms and complete a medical ahead of his proposed £24 million move.
But will the capture of Van Persie be enough to see the title return to the red half of Manchester, or will the Netherlands international suffer a repeat of his long-standing injury woes and prove an unwise purchase?
The 29-year old fired an impressive tally of 30 goals for the Gunners last season in his most prolific season to date, but with the options of Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Chicharito and forgotten man Dimitar Berbatov already available for selection up front, was the outlay – not to mention on a 29-year-old - necessary?

Van Persie can also play on the wing in a more supporting role – but United have an embarrassment of riches in that department with Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Nani all regularly taking up positions on the flank, not to mention new signing Shinji Kagawa also capable of performing there.
So, will the striker slot into the Old Trafford setup perfectly and aid United back to the title or will the move backfire?
