The Scotland international has been sidelined since last November but could make his comeback in the Red Devils final warm-up game before the Premier League season starts
The 28-year-old has not played since United’s Champions League clash against Benfica on 22 November last year due to ulcerative colitis.
The Scotland international is part of a strong Red Devils squad with first-team regulars David de Gea, Rio Ferdinand, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and Anderson all starting the match.
Some of the club’s former stars are also poised to feature including Quinton Fortune and Dwight Yorke after being named on the bench.
The match is United’s last before they open their Premier League campaign with a trip to Goodison Park to face Everton on Monday.
