The England international is hungry for more success with the Blues after winning the Champions League and FA Cup in his first six months at the club after joining from Bolton
Roberto Di Matteo’s side, who won the FA Cup last year, will take on Premier League champions Manchester City at Villa Park on Sunday in the season curtain raiser.
And the 26-year-old is hungry for more success with Chelsea following their Champions League triumph in May, and is delighted to be at the club following his move from Bolton in January.
“Every time you play you want to win and this is the first chance for us to pick up a trophy in the new season,” he told the FA’s official website.

"I have been reflecting in the summer about how things have changed and how things have turned around in the six months since I came to Chelsea.
“It’s been amazing, really; it’s been a great journey for me and one that I feel I’ve only just got a taste of now. It’s not as though I can just think: ‘I’ve been there, done that and got a couple of medals’.
“I’ve really got a taste for it now and I want to go on, do more and win more competitions. I’m as hungry as I have ever been, going into this season.”
Cahill believes it will be an odd experience for him to play the Community Shield at Villa Park, a ground he is familiar with after spending eight years at Aston Villa.
He added: “It’s always strange going back to Villa Park for me. It’s still weird when I go there because I know so many people at the club and it is a great stadium.
