The former Southampton man helped the Canaries to an impressive 12th place finish last season and hopes to play an even bigger part in the side during the 2012-13 campaign
The former Birmingham City boss has signed both Robert Snodgrass and Jacob Butterfield since arriving at the club in June, but Surman remains undeterred.
The 25-year-old recently signed a new contract at Carrow Road and is keen to build on 25 league appearances he made during the 2011-12 campaign.

"I want to play an even more pivotal role in the team's progress."
Norwich impressed in their first season back in the top flight, eventually cruising to a 12th place finish and never looking in danger of an immediate return to the Championship.
Surman, however, is sure that complacency will not be a problem in the club's ranks with a new manager at the helm following the departure of Paul Lambert to Aston Villa.
"I don't think anyone will be guilty of taking their foot off the pedal, whoever the manager is," he continued. "Everyone's got things to prove and everyone's on a level playing field now.
"Everyone wants to be in the Premiership. We don't want to have a bad season, especially after last season's success."
