The 27-year-old completed his move to Villa Park yesterday and says he hopes the Gunner will remain in the Premier League so he has the chance to face himAston Villa's new signing Ron Vlaar has urged his fellow Netherlands international Robin van Persie to stay in the Premier League.
The former Feyenoord defender has just signed a three-year contract with Paul Lambert's side for a fee in the region of £3 million.
The 27-year-old confirmed that he spoke to various Dutch players including Van Persie throughout Euro 2012 this summer before opting to move to the Premier League.
"I talked to Robin and several other players during the Euros," Vlaar told The Mirror.
"Robin told me if I had the chance then to come over, but it was still my decision and I'm very happy Aston Villa came in for me. I'm happy the deal was done.

"I also talked to Karim [El Ahmadi, also signed by Lambert from Feyenoord] and they all said the Premier League would really suit me."
Now that Vlaar is a Villa player, he feels it would be a huge loss for the Premier League to lose last season's top scorer.
"I really don't know where he is going. I haven't talked to him lately," added Vlaar.
"I just hope he stays in England so I can face him. I've trained against him with the national team and he is a great player.
"It would be a big loss if he leaves England."
