The prolific Dutchman has expressed his desire to reject any further contract offers from the Gunners but could they change his mind on remaining in north London?
When the news broke that Robin van Persie had rejected further contract discussions with Arsenal, it appeared that history was set to repeat itself.
Following the summer departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri last year, the Dutchman looked ready to become the next high-profile name out of the door in north London with Manchester City, Manchester United and Juventus reportedly lurking.
However, after the Gunners made further moves in the transfer market to close in on the arrivals of Nuri Sahin and Santi Cazorla, from Real Madrid and Malaga respectively, things seem to have changed.
As Goal.com exclusively revealed on Friday, the mood around Arsenal's London Colney training ground is said to have been lifted by those impending arrivals.
Both Cazorla and Sahin would undoubtedly make the Gunners even stronger following the earlier addition of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud and this seems to be something which is not lost on Van Persie.
But, will that be enough?
So, can the club now convince the Dutchman that they are committed to building a squad worthy of challenging for the honours he craves? Or are Gunners fans simply set for more summer disappointment?
