The Baggies skipper admits that he is yet to play any football in training following a calf injury and will begin a full regime in the coming days if everything goes to planWest Brom captain Chris Brunt admits that he is facing a fitness race ahead of the Premier League season opener against Liverpool in two weeks' time.
The Northern Ireland international is currently resting a calf injury that has disrupted his pre-season training and has only two more friendlies to play any football before kick-off on August 18 at the Hawthorns.
"I've had a couple of decent days this week and I'm hoping if everything goes alright I'll be back in full training next week," Brunt told the Express and Star.
"It's really frustrating because I've missed out on a lot of fitness work as well.
"Also, I haven't played any football yet - other than the few training sessions I got involved in.
"The nature of the injury means it's difficult for me to run on it, which is a bit of a nightmare.
"If I want to be involved against Liverpool I'm going to have to play some football."
