The Baggies head coach has insisted that he has received no bids and that the forward will be staying at the Hawthorns after rumoured interest from former club Reading

West Brom head coach Steve Clarke has insisted that striker Shane Long is not for sale.

The Republic of Ireland striker has been linked with a return to former club Reading, who are looking to strengthen their squad after winning promotion to the Premier League.

Long quickly became a fans' favourite at the Hawthorns after signing last summer, with the 25-year-old finding the net eight times in his first season at the club.

A friendly clash with Copenhagen on Wednesday saw Long open his pre-season account by cooly converting a penalty kick and almost score a second with a header in the 66th minute.

"We've had absolutely nothing on Shane," Clarke told West Brom's official website.

"There have been no bids and he's not for sale. He's 100 per cent part of my plans."

Clarke also revealed talks with Jonas Olsson regarding a contract extension are still ongoing.

"I haven't got anything new to report on that but I think you can see with Jonas' performances on the pitch he's still very much part of this club, that's the best place for Jonas to do his talking right now," he said.
