Agbonlahor dismisses Aston Villa exit rumours

The Villans academy graduate struggled for goals last season but insists he will stay at Villa Park amid reported interest from former boss Martin O'Neill at Sunderland

Gabriel Agbonlahor has played down speculation linking him with a move away from Aston Villa, saying he does not know where the rumours have come from.

The 25-year-old has reportedly been targeted by former manager Martin O'Neill at Sunderland, who is looking to bring in an experienced striker.

But the three-time England international has rubbished the recent rumours, saying he will remain at the club until he is unwanted by them.

Agbonlahor told The Sun: "Looking at it over the summer I'm just laughing at myself thinking: 'where do they get these links from?'

"I'm an Aston Villa player, it's my home club, I love the club, as long as I'm contracted to the club then I'll continue to play for them - until I get told otherwise.

"When you've played with a manager as good as Martin O'Neill you are going to be linked with him. But, for me, it's just speculation."

Agbonlahor made 36 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring six goals.
